How much should I invest in my garden design?

Bespoke, careful and soulful garden design makes for beautiful outdoor spaces you long to return to. But how much will the garden design of your dreams cost? What should you invest? And how can you make your budget work hard for you?

How much does garden design cost?

Garden design fees start with a consultation at £165 and vary depending on your wish list.

The final design fee will depend on all the elements you wish to have. It will be higher the more complex the design is, and the more elements like buildings, outdoor kitchens or construction elements are involved.

I work for you, to get the most out of your budget. I will guide you to where to spend and where to save.

How much should I invest in landscaping?

I suggest clients may wish to invest from 10% of your property value upwards on your garden development. That means if you home is worth £1 million, you may wish to invest from £100,000 on the build budget. This completely depends on your personal preference and the area you live.

The decision on how much to invest is completely personal and related to your wishlist.

What should my build budget be?

The build budget is the amount you spend not with me, but with the landscaper, pool builder or garden room builder.

Example build costs of recent builds include:

  • a small but creatively ambitious 48m2 garden £30,000

  • a London terrace garden with stepped level changes 250-500m2 £120,000

  • an acreage with a garden room, waste soil pipe, drainage, golf simulator, outdoor kitchen 1 acre £500,000-£750,000

OK so how much is planting then?

I advise that you should allow min £280m2 for plants and planting and approx £600-£1200 for specimen trees.
