How much does garden design cost?
Full service garden design costs 7-12% of your build budget, starting at £6500 + VAT.
The final fee will depend on all the elements you wish to have. it will necessarily be higher the more complex the design is, and the more elements like buildings, outdoor kitchens or construction elements are involved.
How much should I invest?
I advise clients to invest from 10% of your property value on your garden development. That means if you home is worth £1 milllion, invest from £100,000 on the build budget. There are plenty of forever homes that deserve more, and property value varies wildly across the country. At that point the decision on how much to spend becomes completely personal and related to your wishlist.
What how much should my build budget be?
A London terrace garden -250-500m2 £60,000-120,000
An acreage - 3,500m2-1 acre up to £500,000
These figures include landscaping costs such as labor, materials, waste and plants and planting, but not special features that will be priced separately depending on your dream.
OK so how much is planting then?
I advise that you should allow min £280m2 for plants and planting and approx £600-£1200 for specimen trees. This can vary depending on what your chosen plants are, and if you want specialist trees and topiary, which are priced individually.
