An astroturfed garden gets a wild makeover

This garden in Twickenham was covered in astro turf, the polite term for the plastic grass that kills off biodiversity and mothers gardens. The client was bereft at her lack of wildlife, so I designed a garden that removed the plastic covering, the bland paving and replaced it with a porous rain garden solution. The wildlife will be attracted back to the garden with water, small branches, plant species that support the entire lifecycle of invertebrates and pollinators and shade and mess to hide in over winter.

The garden is also a stylish retreat for a busy professional who needs a mid level of maintenance and maximum opportunities to put her feet up. The brief was as dark as possible, and to make use of the existing trees which are being picked up and re-placed.

I offer a rooftop garden design and build service designed by me and built by my partners Garden Tamers. With a m2 design and build fee from £5000 you know what you’re getting and can have your rooftop installed quickly.

Together we design and build rooftop gardens across London.

We use the highest quality off-the shelf planters and products for a fast turnaround. Completely bespoke solutions are available, but they do take 3 months minimum for bespoke elements to be made by suppliers.
